Thanks for the culture lesson!

And I seriously doubt I will get my hands on Educated before my book club in September. It's at least a six month wait at my library!Ashleyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15707389222534045544noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8559247687312084765.post-89956174307827683952018-07-19T21:37:42.301-05:002018-07-19T21:37:42.301-05:00I Was Anastasia is definitely on my to-read list, ...I Was Anastasia is definitely on my to-read list, super curious about it! I know, learning about that term has changed the way I view certain books/events/stories, it's just been interesting to think about.Suzannehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00727226129280965650noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8559247687312084765.post-69277560532914779552018-07-19T21:35:31.244-05:002018-07-19T21:35:31.244-05:00Wow, I would love to hear what your cousin had to ...Wow, I would love to hear what your cousin had to say about the book (I've always wondered what the locals think of this family). Buts its a tough call on buying it. While I totally think it's worth reading, I'm not sure if it's worth owning (it doesn't make you feel happy, you know?). Can you make purchase requests at your library? They should be getting hot new books like this if they are worth anything!Suzannehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00727226129280965650noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8559247687312084765.post-83165848480144600952018-07-17T23:18:26.395-05:002018-07-17T23:18:26.395-05:00Okay, your post brought to mind a movie I watched ...Okay, your post brought to mind a movie I watched a long time ago. I had to look up the name of it just now: "Flightplan," starring Jodie Foster. She's on a flight with her daughter when the little girl vanishes; apparently taking any evidence that she was ever on the flight along with her. Foster has to try to find her daughter, while convincing everyone else she's not crazy. Gaslighting. Now I now the name of it!

I need to read "Educated." So apparently, the author and her family were my cousin's neighbors right there in Clifton, ID. She had some interesting comments about it. Still trying to decide if it's worth buying, though, since our library doesn't have it.
Linnaehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06500189741421518061noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8559247687312084765.post-81186278462449420722018-07-13T14:53:16.155-05:002018-07-13T14:53:16.155-05:00Wow, I felt like I learned a lot from this! And I totally hadn't viewed Educated with that lens before (though I noticed some of the things you pointed out). I think this will definitely change how I view certain accounts and books going forward (starting with I Was Anastasia, which I'm reading now and definitely has some of that going on in it). Very thought-provoking post.Torriehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00914130332528653162noreply@blogger.com
